    What are the DNS (Domain Name Service) addresses?
    This information is dynamically assigned during login. Our primary DNS server is 216.162.128.6 and our secondary DNS number is 216.162.128.5 .

    How can I tell what my password is?
    Once you have entered your password into your computer, it is not possible to read what you have entered. If you have forgotten your password, you can contact our Billing Department at 222-4418. They will verify your identity, then release your password.

    What is the difference between my Username and my Password?
    Your Username is your online identity, and when combined with '@velocityonline.net' it forms your e-mail address. Your password is a confidential code that you supplied us when your account was established. The password is required to log on or to access your e-mail. Usernames and Passwords are case sensitive.

    Why do I get disconnected from Velocity Online periodically?
    After a nine minute period of inactivity, you will be disconnected from Velocity Online. Inactivity can occur when reading or writing E-Mail or reading a web page for a period of nine minutes. If you minimize your browser and run other programs for a period of nine minutes, or if you walk away from your computer for nine minutes. To avoid inactivity related disconnects, change web pages through your browser several times in any nine minute period.

    Velocity Online supports PAP and CHAP authentication.

    What operating systems can connect to Velocity Online?
    You can connect to Velocity Online with Windows 3.1, Windows95/98, Windows NT 4.0, Window 2000, Macintosh OS 7.1 or higher, LINUX, or UNIX. Please note we do not offer technical support for UNIX at this time. Limited support is available for LINUX.

    Can I use my 56k modem with Velocity Online?
    Yes. Velocity Online is completely V.90 compliant. We can support 56k connections using either the V.90 protocol or the K56flex protocol. You should keep in mind however that this does not guarantee 56k connections. Many telephone lines in the Tallahassee area do not support speeds above 33.6k.

    How come I can "Ping" an IP address but can not resolve DNS?
    Windows 98 has a problem with the WINSOCK2 you can remove "Dial-up Networking" and delete the registry entry for the winsock2 (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services (WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system!!)) Finally reboot your machine and reinstall Dial-up Networking.
