X-Box/Playstation Setup

If you are a student living in one of the housing complexes we suppport, we will need the MAC address of your Playstation or Xbox. Follow these instructions and then call us when you have it. It will take about an hour after you call us to get online. If you live at Frog Pond, please be aware you are only allowed one MAC address per bedroom. If you need more than one, you will need a router. Just be sure when you hook up the router that you connect the cord from the wall to the port labeled "WAN" or "Internet". Otherwise you risk being disconnected for long periods of time as incorrect hookups will cause problems for other students.
Finding your Xbox Console's MAC address
1) Turn on your Xbox console with no game disc in the disc tray.
2) From the Xbox Dashboard, choose Xbox Live.
These steps assume you cannot connect to Xbox Live until you finish configuring your Xbox console to use your PC's MAC address. Therefore, you should receive the following message: "Could not connect to Xbox Live. Do you want to troubleshoot your network connection?".
3) From the Connect Status screen, select Settings. The 12-digit number at the bottom-right corner of the Network Settings screens is the MAC address of your Xbox console. Do not change your Xbox console MAC address, just write it down and call us.

Finding your Playstation MAC address
1) Since the PS2's Network Adapter MAC is not printed anywhere, you have to go through the Network Adapter Startup process. Here's how to get to the MAC address that way.
2) Make sure the ethernet cable is disconnected from the PS2. Boot up using the Network Setup Disk, and select ISP Setup from the main screen. At this point, make sure it says the Network Adapter is found. If not, it may not be installed correctly, or the PS2 has an issue.
3) A few notices will come up indicated the network is not affiliated with SCEA, etc. Keep pressing the X button. You'll reach a screen that allows you to create a new ISP. Select NEW, and then input a name (FSU, Dorm, etc). After that, it will ask if you are 'Currently subscribing to an ISP.' Choose YES.
4) Next screen, choose High Speed Connection(Cable or DSL). On the next screen, choose Automatic Settings. After that, it will ask if the ISP requires a UserID and Password. Select No. Then it will ask if the ISP requires them to input a DHCP host. Select No.
At this point, the PS2 should begin to test the connection. DO NOT PLUG THE ETHERNET CABLE IN AT THIS POINT. The connection must fail. It takes about 30 seconds. After the test fails, have them press the SELECT button, and the MAC address should be displayed. Write it down and call us.
